I received the Laurea degree in Mathematics from the University of Calabria, Italy. I'm a senior researcher at the Institute of High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) . and contract professor in the department of Electronics, Computer Science, and Systems DEIS) at the University of Calabria. In the past, I worked in the research division of a software company on deductive databases, advanced logic based systems, and abduction. I served as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences.

My research interests include knowledge discovery in databases, data mining, evolutionary computation, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, bioinformatics.
